whimsical and delightful in equal measure. you create a lot of promise and intrigue with so few words... I am sure you had lewis carol in mind here?

Thank you so much! I had a touch of my favorites in this. Really the only story I wrote a clear distinction to one of my favorites!

So many great descriptions here, and you catch us right away with the note attached to the key. I especially appreciate the descriptions where the protagonist makes an observation and then immediately backtracks because it's just not quite accurate at a second glance (like with the cat being mostly a cat). It's giving off serious Alice in Wonderland vibes.

This was created for a prompt in my subscriber chat! I came up with the prompt as well. Thank you so much! I do like Alice in wonderland. Maybe a little nostalgia mixed with some of the ethereal fantasy. Thank you so much! 🩵

Have you watched Luck? The girls read this with me & they thought it was enchanting & immediately thought this was going to be just like Luck.

Luck is fun. It is a magical cat that helps an unlucky girl turn her luck around. There is a portal to another world & fun! Yes. Watch it!

I'm looking this up now! Is he as ethereal as my Kitsune cat!?

He comes from the world of luck. Like a leprechaun but in cat form.

Love the descriptions.

This grabbed my heart:

"For the door that wasn’t there yesterday."

Instant feeling of longing and mystery.

Haha no I used tendrils to give the creature an ethereal, almost otherworldly quality, something that defies rigid form. Instead of a traditional tail, these wispy tendrils suggest movement that isn’t bound by the physical world, flickering like candle flames, alive in a way that feels almost elemental. It makes the creature feel both delicate and untouchable, something that exists between realms, shifting like smoke or whispers of forgotten magic.

That’s beautiful. I feel so different now. But I’ve had a weird day so maybe that’s why I went dark. Haha
